In accordance with the newly introduced Korean Prime Minister’s Cup Representative Selection System this year, participants of the Boğaziçi Go Tournament competed for the chance to represent Turkey in the KPMC. In the tournament, which featured Turkey’s top three players, Ulaş Ören (5 Dan) won all his games and claimed first place, earning the right to represent Turkey in Korea. After a long break, the return of Özgür Değirmenci (5 Dan) to the tournament generated excitement during pre-registration, and he secured second place. Last year’s winner Hüsrev Aksüt (5 dan) took third place.
This year’s Fighting Spirit award went to Erdem Oymak, who won all five rounds and showed resilience against stronger opponents. Among kyu level players, Tolga Emre Başargan and Doğan Ergezen both achieved 4 wins out of 5 games. The award for best young player went to Mustafa Dedemen, while the best female player award was shared by İlay Yılmaz and Şeyma Çavuşoğlu — who tied with three wins each — all received prizes from our sponsors at the awards table.
The Fifth Boğaziçi Go Tournament began with 42 participants from 8 different cities, including 2 foreign players (one residing in Turkey), and concluded with 50 participants in total, including 4 first timers. For further details and wall lists please refer to 5th Boğaziçi Go Tournament page.
We thank everyone who showed interest, participated, and supported us — especially our sponsors who made this tournament possible.
